The Federal Sectoral Agreement on Maritime Transport for 2021-2024 was signed

On April 7, 2021, the All-Russian industrial association of employers ‘Russian Chamber of Shipping’ and four All-Russian trade unions - the Trade Union of Water Transport Workers of the Russian Federation, the ROGWU, the Russian Trade Union of Seamen and the Russian Trade Union of Nuclear Power and Industry Workers - entered into a Federal Sectoral Agreement on Maritime Transport for 2021-2024 years.

The Sectoral Agreement was signed to ensure social and economic stability in maritime shipping, improve the living standards of seafarers and competitiveness in maritime shipping. It establishes general terms of remuneration, guarantees, compensation and benefits for employees.

The Sectoral Commission for the Regulation of Social and Labour Relations in Maritime Transport will monitor the implementation of the Sectoral Agreement. The parties to the Commission are Trade Unions that are part of the Single Representative Body of Trade Unions, which is part of the four above-mentioned trade unions and the All-Russian Industrial Association of Employers.

‘It is important for us to ensure the creation of new and preservation of existing jobs for Russian seafarers employed in the exploration, production and transportation of hydrocarbons in the Arctic,’ said Aleksandr Korchagin, the ROGWU President. ‘Taking into account the already approved Strategy for the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and ensuring national security for the period up to 2035, as well as the state program of the Russian Federation ‘Social and economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation’, a large amount of work awaits us as representatives of workers.’
