Harmonious youth - good support of the country!

On 19 -23 May the first Energy Youth Forum took place in Uzbekistan. It gathered more than 500 participants and was organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republican Council of the Trade Union of Energy, Oil and Gas and Geology Workers of Uzbekistan.

‘Youth Energy’ is international as it had youth representatives of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, as well as foreign representative offices of companies in the fuel and energy sector in Uzbekistan (ACWA Power, Masdar, Siemens Energy, JV UzAssystem LLC, Eriell Group, LUKOIL Uzbekistan Operating Company LLC, Enter Engineering Pte. Ltd., JV LLC ‘Jizzakh Petroleum’, etc.).

The forum was held in order to identify socially active, talented youth, improve their professional and creative competencies, assist in organizing cooperation between representatives of youth assets of societies and organizations in the energy industry, representative offices of foreign companies and trade unions. Also, one of the main directions of the Forum was the consolidation of common efforts in solving urgent issues of young specialists aimed at the further development of the energy sector of Uzbekistan.

The slogan of the Forum was ‘Harmonious youth – good support of the country!’ was defined by the main Forum idea. As part of its implementation, master classes and trainings were held for the participants aimed at developing such competencies as: ‘Systematic and critical thinking’, ‘Personal growth and self-development’, ‘Project and process management’, ‘Teamwork and working with people’, ‘Inter-line communication’, etc. Trainings were conducted both by experts fr om the Republic of Uzbekistan and by invited international lecturers.

Young specialists and engineers of international participating companies made reports on the activities of their companies, talked about the modern approach to the provision of high-tech services and shared their experience in the implementation of complex projects in the Republic of Uzbekistan and abroad.

It should be noted separately that scientific conferences, trainings, master classes, as well as sports events for young people are held on an ongoing basis at all enterprises of the industry in the Republic. A great contribution to the training of the personnel reserve for the industry is made by local and foreign universities.

Nuclear energy became a separate topic of the Forum. With the assistance of the ‘Uzatom Agency’ and the State Atomic Energy Corporation ‘Rosatom’, an exit zone of the Information Center for Atomic Technologies (ICAT) was organized, wh ere the forum participants in a game form tested their knowledge in the field of nuclear technologies, and also played the game ‘What? Where? When?’.

The result of the Forum's work was the final program document reflecting the proposals of the participants of the thematic platforms aimed at promoting the central idea of the event.

Within the framework of the bilateral Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between the Trade Union of Energy, Oil and Gas and Geology Workers of the Republic of Uzbekistan - the co-organizer of this Forum, and the ROGWU, Dmitry Sidorov, Chairman of the ROGWU Youth Council, took part in the forum. ‘The openness to communication of the event participants is striking. During our interaction, we together analysed our methods of work in youth organizations, found differences and similarities. I shared with the youth of Uzbekistan the methods that work with us, and also gave master classes in two groups on the topics of public speaking and the distinctive features of working with youth in Russia, based on my own experience. I am really glad that a young generation of curious and competent industry specialists, our colleagues, is growing up in the Republic. I look forward to further cooperation in common projects’ - noted the youth leader.
