Digital Trade Union – Time to Change

The ROGWU meeting “Digital Trade Union – Time to Change” was attended by more than 80 young trade union activists, representing 28 structural organizations out of 32 regions of the Russian Federation, Belarus and Uzbekistan.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Trade Union Alexander Korchagin, who told the youth about the activities of the Trade Union, informed about the main results of the recently ended VIII ROGWU Congress and wished the participants seminal and interesting work, new bright ideas and effective solutions to the tasks set.

The participants of the meeting were greeted by the Deputy Chairman of the FNPR Alexander Shershukov. “Our task is to understand and get to know the youth with whom we work. Not to say that you have not grown to our “music”, but to explain what, where there are age-related contradictions, how they can be overcome with the help of trade unions,” said Alexander Shershukov in his speech.

In the block “History of Changes. How People and Time Change” Alexander Popov, famous Russian swimmer, multiple champion and record holder of the world, Europe and the Olympic Games, holder of the IOC Olympic Order, honorary member of the International Olympic Committee gave a speech. He noted that sports and business are very similar in their goals and objectives, excellent results, great success are created from little things. And to achieve them, you need such qualities as dedication, resistance to stress, self-discipline and constant self-improvement, love for the Motherland, which help to move forward.

Anna Rodionova, Head of the Russian and Central Asian Procurement Department of the Schlumberger Company, and Renat Mamin, Head of the Tatneft Charitable Foundation also spoke in this block. In her lecture on the topic “Oil. Career. Opportunities”Anna Rodionova spoke about the role of women in the development of the oil and gas industry. “A woman can be successful in any area, now there is no purely male or female industry. To understand what you want, you need to try. Today there are no barriers to achieving your goal, you need a desire, a huge work of self-discipline, its importance for self-development was noted by all the speakers today,” – Anna Rodionova said.

Mergen Abushinov, Lead Engineer at RITEK LLC, Nikita Karpunin, Lead Field Development Engineer at RITEK LLC, Ilya Uryumtsev, Deputy Head of the Central Technological Service RITEK LLC gave a speech on innovative activities in the field of oil production and what awaits the industry in the era of digitalization.

Ilya Varin, Head of the Education Department of the CyberMoscow project, informed the participants of the meeting about the basics of information security, possible threats on the Internet and the currently existing methods of protecting against them.

Konstantin Sherstkin, a freelance teacher at the Zonal educational and methodological center (ZUMC) of trade unions (St. Petersburg), in his speech revealed modern approaches to motivating trade union membership. “Modern society is a society of knowledge and technologies that turn the employee into a key resource. People, generations are changing, citizens with the values of “collectivism” and “self-realization” have been replaced by a generation with the values of “material benefit” and “comfort”. All motivation depends on only one word – “need”, – said the speaker.

Then the participants of the meeting had been absorbed in the basics of game design for three days, creating online board games in four main areas of the Trade Union's activities: organizational and trade union, protection of social and labor rights and economic interests of workers, human rights activities, and labor and health protection. In order to acquaint young people with the basics of trade union activities, to understand the essence of the work of the Trade Union, the participants of the meeting listened to the speeches of experts from the ROGWU Apparatus.

The brief results of the completed Youth Meeting of the ROGWU “Digital Trade Union – Time to Change” are the following: useful skills and competencies, a lot of positive emotions and new friends, the desire to quickly put into practice the gained knowledge. These opinions of the participants that once again underline the effectiveness and usefulness of the event.
