Alexander Korchagin was elected President of the General Confederation of Trade Unions

Delegates of the IX Congress of the General Confederation of Trade Unions (GCTU), which ended on September 7 in Moscow, elected President of the ROGWU, President of the MK NGSP Alexander Korchagin as President of the GCTU (on a voluntary basis).

Andrey Belyaninov became the General Secretary of the GCTU. Mikhail Shmakov, President of the FNPR, was elected Honorary President of the GCTU, and Vladimir Shcherbakov, former General Secretary of the GCTU, was elected Honorary General Secretary.

As part of the work of the Congress, the Main directions of the activities of the GCTU for 2022-2027 were approved, and it was decided to consider "Together for social justice and a decent life" as the main slogan of all the work of trade unions in the region for this period.



The Congress formed the composition of the Council of the GCTU and the composition of the Executive Committee of the GCTU, elected the composition of the Control and Audit Commission of the GCTU, and also amended the Charter of the GCTU .

As Alexander Korchagin noted, "The IX Congress of the General Confederation of Trade Unions once again convincingly showed the growing unity of the trade union movement of the CIS countries, its ability to defend the vital interests of workers with concrete solidarity actions. The GCTU will continue to do everything to ensure that people of work are provided with a decent level of income, reliable social protection, and ample opportunities for creative and professional growth."
